Stop. Look around you. You may not see them at first glimpse, but if you’re looking hard enough, you’ll see them lurking nearby. (Maybe they are fiendishly plotting to take over the world? You decide.)
Typos are appearing everywhere…newspapers, websites, LinkedIn profiles, posters, flyers, brochures, restaurant signs, letters and e-mails. Yes, and even blogs and TV. They can be sad, they can be pathetic, but in most cases, they’re humorous.
Case in point: Last night, I was watching TV and came across a whopper. When I change from one channel to another, my TV service helpfully provides a quick blurb with the name of the show, the amount of time remaining in the show and a short summary of the show’s plot. In one summary, the heroic prince was supposed to rescue the hapless “heroin” from danger. Somebody forgot the extra “e” in “heroine”.
Strange. I never heard of heroin requiring a rescue. Usually, people need rescuing from the heroin, not the other way around.
